Like
a lot of pet owners I think my pet is very special and very close
to being human! I've owned a lot of different cats over the years and
have never come across one quite like Fernando. There are numerous
special personality traits that make Fernando special to me, however,
there are two that I haven't come across in a cat before! The first is
that he's very comfortable with water. Extremely easy to bath, shower
etc, he has an extraordinary fascination with the bathroom - sits on the
edge of the bath when I'm having one, watches while I'm in the shower,
and tries standing in the basin when the taps running and I'm brushing
my teeth. He plays outside under the lawn sprinklers and loves it. The
other trait is his very social personality with strangers (not always a
good thing but we've been lucky so far). Every new neighborhood we've
moved to, Mr Socialite Fernando has won the hearts of the local
neighbors. Every day when I head off to work Fernando heads off on his
neighborhood rounds. He goes in search of people that are around during
the day when I'm not. He wears his name, address & phone number on a
tag around his neck (just in case he gets lost) and because of his tag
I've been kept informed about his daily escapades. It's also a frequent
occurance to come home to a message on the answerphone saying that
Fernando has been at someone's place just incase we were looking for
him. He makes different friends and visits them everyday for a while
then moves on to share his affection with someone else. He doesn't
usually go too far, although some of the people live a couple of streets
away (if you were walking) but a couple of fences over for Fernando!
Christmas time he came home with a little Christmas card cellotaped
around his name tag from a lady who has a hair salon at home where
Fernando would go daily to visit her and her clients.
