This
is China, she is six years old. I had just lost a pet of twelve
years. I went to the pound and asked for a white cat, as my house has
mostly white furniture (cat beds). She was a pathetic mess. She had been
"cat-napped" by one of the volunteers at the pound because she
was being abused where she had been living. She was not fully grown and
had been terribly neglected. China was very shy at first because of the
sad treatment to which she had been subjected. She disappeared under my
bed for two months, coming out only at night to eat and use her box. At
the end of the second month she appeared from under the bed one
afternoon and looked like a queen. We guess she must have been spending
the time cleaning up for her grand entrance. She is still, and always
will be, our Queen.
