This
is Sheba. It is rare to find a creature as loyal, intelligent,
loving, and fierce as Sheba. She loves her immediate family, but she
views all others as intruders. She once saved me from an abusive,
overbearing door-to-door salesman. When I politely told him I wasn't
interested in his product, he began cursing at me and started toward
me. Sheba came running at him screeching and hissing, puffed up to
three times her normally slender body. The man stumbled backwards and
beat a hasty retreat. As he let go of the screen door, Sheba flung
herself airborne toward where his face would have been. I quickly shut
and locked the door. Sheba had been so brave, but as soon as the
immediate danger was over, we were both shaking! I held her until we
were both calm. Sheba would have gladly sacrificed herself for me or
any member of her family.
