Here's
a picture of our boy, Henry, resting in the gladiolas. He's fourteen
years old. I adopted him from Santa Clara County Humane Society a week
after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. He was three years old. I took
him out of the cage, he did a headbutt to my face, and it was all
over--I had to adopt him. He is 17 pounds of pure love, joy, and orange
hair. Since adopting Henry, I adopted a sister for him, Prizie (short
for Surprize), and a soulmate for me! Our family grew overnight!
Henry enjoys napping, eating, and keeping his sister company during the
day. He goes out to the backyard under strict supervision when we get
home from work. He loves patrolling the backyard, keeping it safe for
the free world, even though he is officially retired. Henry can do one
trick. He knows the word, kiss. So when you say, "how 'bout a kiss,
Hen?" He gives you one on the top of your head. His most favorite thing
is getting his hair combed. He cannot stand to have even one hair out of
place!
After Henry takes his twilight nap, he comes to the living room to join
us on the couch to watch TV. He lies between us, and we take turns
massaging his big belly. Sometimes we wonder how long he would lay there
and let us rub his belly. (Probably only until the big belly needed more
food!) We've been trying for years to get Henry to audition for a "got
milk" commercial. Don't you think he would be a good spokescat for milk?
