In
October, my roommates and I were painting our house when we saw a
man walking down the street with a very tiny kitten at his heals. It
turned out that it wasn't his, he was just trying to find out where it
came from. We took her in and put up posters, but were very surprised
when nobody claimed this beautiful kitten. The very first thing she
did in our house was run through a pan of paint and track it all over
the floor. That's how she got her name. At the time, she was two
pounds and estimated to be ten weeks old. After a week, she and our
other cat were acting like long lost pals. Mona has got to be the
sweetest cat I've ever seen and even more devoted than any dog. She
sleeps on my neck every night, follows us from room to room, and her
favorite perch is on your shoulder. She even has enough balance that
you can walk around the house with her up there. Her tail is so funny
because it always curls around her paws, or up on her thigh, or around
your neck if she's on your shoulder. Sadly, a while back, Mona started
getting sick. It was found that she has feline leukemia. I hate to
report that she may not be with us for much longer, but we will all
cherish every moment that she is.
