Because
of his beautiful, shiny black coat, Leto is named after the
Greek goddess of the night, the mother of Apollo. Leto is about as close
to a dog as cats come. He doesn't like to be held, but likes to lay next
you while you pet him. If you rub his stomach, he'll roll over. He's
very vocal and has a large vocabulary of meows. Every morning he jumps
up on my bed and meows (about a half hour before I really need to get
up) Who needs an alarm clock?! When I come home in the evening he meows
almost continuous to greet me.
Leto is very frisky and playful. His favorite toy is a plain piece of
string. His favorite game is tag. To get you to play, he'll come up
behind you and tag the bag of your legs and then run away expecting you
to chase him. Most cats are pretty independent and don't mind being
alone, but Leto seems to need companionship. Even when he's taking a nap
he likes to be near someone. When I have company, he doesn't run away
and hide, but instead sits in the living room on the hearth of the
fireplace and politely takes in the conversation.
Leto isn't the only one who enjoys our companionship. Life sure would be
different without him. Checkout
