No
doubt about it, Jeoffrey has charisma. A feral kitten, he charmed
the whole block of townhouses where he lived his first year. Although
the residents couldn't take him in, most placed small shelters and
food stations on their stoops, so he had many little kitty condos when
weather was bad. A friend who lived in the complex knew we had just
lost our beloved mixed tabby, and insisted that I come and meet this
little guy. From the time he sauntered around the corner, I was
smitten - and when he came right to my feet and rolled over to present
his gorgeous tabby tummy for a scratch, I was slain. He went straight
to the vet, where he endured the necessary medical indignities with
such good nature that the whole staff also became his doting fans.
Even now, he cheerfully jumps into his carrier to go for shots,
because he knows he'll be greeted with a chorus of delighted cries of
"Jeoffrey!" and great attention and patting. At home he wrestles
happily with his senior associate, Kittredge, avidly watches wildlife
outside, and generally wastes our time by providing nonstop
entertainment. Even when he's not doing anything, he makes us smile.
