Morsel
was the last of a litter of four kittens brought to the KittyKind
Animal Shelter in Manhattan, where Mommy volunteers, feeding and
cleaning cages once a week. She was the only cat adopted that night. She
was looking very lonely and scared in her carrier, and when we got her
home she started mewing and desperately seeking her brothers and
sisters. Not finding them, she immediately adopted our five year old cat
Duncan -- but first she had to show him who was boss. Only nine weeks
old and 1/8 his size, she stood up on her hind legs, hissed at him and
swatted the air until Duncan backed off. However, his curiosity was
permanently aroused, and he kept coming back for more. Three days later,
they were sleeping on separate pillows on the same sofa, and in another
week they became one tangled ball of fluff on the armchair. None of us
can imagine how we ever got along without our Morsel.
