Chili
and her littermates were born under a front porch. They were
rescued from this feral existence by some kind and caring friends who
also were able to capture the mother cat and have her spayed. We
adopted Chili and her sister Leia partly in hopes that they would
help keep Freckles, our thirteen-year-old tortoiseshell, active. At first
Freckles was not very happy with the arrangement but after a month she
accepted "the girls" and now they often play, sleep or just
hang out together.
Chili is a very sweet and funny little girl. She purrs very
loudly; wiggles, squirms, and rolls over and over when petted; and
likes to have her tummy rubbed. She is truly a "scaredy-cat"
around other people and hides if we have guests. Besides eating, one
of Chili's favorite pastimes is pushing her water dish around the
floor and slopping water all over the place. She also loves the
bathroom sink and will curl up in it even if the water is running. She
and Leia enjoy getting up into the rafters in our basement and walking
on the heating/air-conditioning ducts which makes a wonderful
low-pitched banging noise. Chili also likes to hang upside down from
the edge of a chair seat or the cat tree. She also often crosses her
front paws as in her picture. Chili has a special endearing quality
that can't be captured in a photograph.
