This
is a very special kitty. Her name is Teika, she is now one year
old. She is what is called a muted calico. This picture is
Teika when she was about 22 days old. This dear wee kitten was found
alone in a field by a young boy who brought her home. She was about
ten days old. His mother got in touch with me because she knows I
love cats. When I said I would take her she was still being bottle
fed and had to be burped like a human baby. Little Teika came to work
with me everyday so that I could feed and care for her until she was
old enough to stay at home. During the many weeks she came to the shop
with me customers visited and brought gifts for her. Everyone who
came into my shop had to see the wee tiny cat, including all the dogs
who came in. As a result Teika is quite comfortable around dogs.
Even though in the winter it is cold outside, Teika still loved being
outside. We don't let our cats out unless my husband or I stay outside
with them and in February neither of us was too keen to stand around
outside for very long while Teika got some fresh air. Our two older
kitties (one seven years old and the other fifteen) both prefer the
warm cozy comfort of a favorite sleeping spot to the brisk winter
temps.
One of the things I find particularly adorable about Teika is that
every night she sleeps on her little blanket which is between our
pillows on the bed and purrs us to sleep. We love having a kitten in
the house again, however our other two kitties, CiCi and The Goof,
probably wish she would sleep more just like they do.
