Well,
I had just moved out on my own after a nasty breakup with a
boyfriend of nearly eight years. I was going off to get an adult cat at
the local pound for company. I had gone in and gotten a litter box,
adult food, some toys and everything else I'd need to own an adult
cat. When I walked outside this lady had a box that said free kittens
on it. Being an animal lover, I had to look in, when low and behold,
what did I see but a little red striped tabby. I have a very soft
place in my heart for red tabbies, and it was just the kind of cat I
wanted. I didn't want a kitten - I was working a full time job and
going to school. I didn't think I had the time for one. So what did
the lil bugger do? He popped his head out of the box, put both paws on
the edge of the box and licked my nose. Needless to say, I imagine,
that all plans to get that adult cat just went out the window and I
took him home that very day, after going back in and exchanging the
cat food for kitten food. The lady was trying to get rid of them
because her daughter's cancer was out of remission and she had to go
through another round of chemotherapy and radiation, and the mother
didn't have the time to take care of a set of kittens on top of all
that (tigger had a grey striped sister as well).
Tigger Kitten Bear (Tigs or Bear for Short) has been with
me through the biggest changes in my life, always giving me
unconditional love and affection through some of the worst times in my
life. He is my goofy little boy, and I am thankful that I didn't go
and get an already grown cat, because the bond that we have is truly
amazing. He knows when I'm feeling sad and knows when I'm feeling
happy and acts accordingly. Sometimes he knows my moods before I do.
He has become the barometer by which I gage my life -- my friends
jokingly say that any man I date has to pass the "t-test" If Tigger
doesn't like them, the relationship soon ends -- but not because
Tigger doesn't like them. He is just usually right about them. :) He
has his very own webpage, which is located at
tiggerkittens.org. It
has a lot of pictures and a lot of fond memories of my precious little
angel/sometimes devil.
