Meet
Alpo (left) and Roady (right), two brothers from a litter of four.
As kittens, they were almost identical and we had to mark Alpo's ear
with food coloring to differentiate between the two. Now there are
enough differences both in appearance and in personality that there's no
mistaking who's who. We don't buy toys for them because they far prefer
the ones they find on their own.
Nothing pleases Roady as much as a bottle cap tossed down the basement
stairs. He fetches these and drops them at your feet to be tossed again
and again. When he tires of this (which can take quite some time!) the
caps end up in their food and water bowls. When he spots a spider, he
tries to play the part of the hunter, but is seldom successful as he
either waits until they are just out of his reach to pounce or gets
impatient and meows in anticipation, scaring the spider away.
Alpo is more of a "laid back" (lazy?) cat, preferring to watch his nutty
brother's adventures from the comfort of my lap. They tend to chase each
other around the house in the mornings and evenings but most afternoons
can be found having a snooze together on the couch. But, the minute
Roady hears Gord's motorcycle turn toward the house, he's at the door,
waiting for Gord to enter. They love being with people and never tire of
attention. And Gord and I both love having them around!
