Jasmine
came into our lives last Christmas and she was my Christmas
present to my partner. The breeder lives interstate so my mum, who is
also interstate, selected her from the litter and we had to try and keep
the secret for months! She mailed me baby photos every few weeks, which
I was dying to show the world but managed to keep my lips tight. I
ordered cat houses, brushes, collars, leads and toys on-line and hid the
evidence around the house, still managing to stay quiet. I cracked one
day when my partner suggested we ring some local breeders to look at
kittens - he was thrilled but also horrified that the females in his
family managed to scheme so much behind his back!
We brought Jasmine and her Siamese mate Mini home after Christmas and
they have livened up the house so much. When I moved to Sydney I gave my
cat Frank to an elderly lady whose cat has passed away, and I was
missing the company of furry friends. Jasmine is a joy to have around,
except when she stands on my neck in the middle of the night to gain
some attention! She also likes sleeping while draped across my neck,
which isn't a great habit now that she's nearly fully grown.
Jasmine also enjoys fighting with Mini, eating BBQ chicken and exploring
all the upper regions of the house (tops of kitchen cupboards and
bookcases so she can look down upon her domain). The only time she has
miaowed was when Mini was away having heart surgery; since he returned
she now squeaks like a mouse to let us know she's around and ready for
some attention. She's a lovely cat and we're lucky to have her.
