This
is Mir Cat. Mir came to us when her previous owners decided they
were dog people, not cat people. She made herself right at home with
us the very first day. We named her Mir because it's what she told us
her name was when we asked! "Mir" also means
"peace" in Russian, and "to me, " or
"mine" in German, and that's how she treats every person and
object that comes into the house. It's all hers! Finally, like her
once-orbiting namesake, she is devoted to exploring space. She can't
abide a closed door and will sit outside one, insisting that the
secret of all feline happiness lies behind it. She has quite a
vocabulary, including an odd little gargle when she greets us after an
absence. (It almost sounds as if she's cussing!)
Mir has wonderful markings--the black and marbled patches alternate
from side to side and one front toe and one back toe are tan. She's
soft, pouncy, and a definite lap cat.--never mind that the lap may
have a computer or needlework in it. Her favorite toys are the
tape-measure, balls of crumpled paper, and her little pillow full of
catnip. She'll sit up for cat treats but has a real sweet tooth and
has been known to go after caramels and cookies. We wouldn't trade our
Mir for anything!
