This
is Baxter. Baxter is ten years old, and I adopted him from a
shelter three years ago. When I decided to adopt a second cat, I went
to several different animal shelters for several weeks in a row. I
hadn't really "bonded" with any of the cats. I finally just picked
Baxter because he was one of the oldest cats at the shelter and I knew
he probably wouldn't be adopted otherwise. What was really strange
after I thought about it was that he was everything I didn't want in a
cat. I don't know what made me choose him. He was a male cat, he was
orange (I've never really like orange cats), he was larger than my
other cat, he was long-haired, and he was older. I was looking for a
2-3 year old short-haired female about the same size as my Josie so
she wouldn't be intimated. After having Baxter for three years now, I am
convinced fate had a hand in my choosing him. He is the most lovable,
snuggable, special cat you could ever own. His favorite thing is to
sit on mom or dad's lap and be "purred". I can't even imagine how his
previous owners could have given him up, but their loss is my gain.
