Hello Cat Lovers! I would like to take a minute to introduce "P.K." - (otherwise known as Pretty-Kitty). He lives with us here in Somerville, New Jersey, along with a 17-year-old Himalayan cat and a two-year-old Jack Russell Terrier. P.K. found me - I did not pick him, he picked me. I was having some rather difficult times in my life back in the mid '90s and was visiting some people who had a whole house full of cats. P.K. was the only one who came right up to me and gave me a full head-butt, even at his tender age of ten weeks old. I was smitten from that point on. But more profoundly, P.K. is a healer. No, not the physical kind we visit the doctor for, but a mental and spiritual healer. (He can read my moods even better than my boy friend can!) Two years ago, I was diagnosed with pancreatitus and spent a few weeks in the hospital. When I returned, P.K. seemed to sense that I needed him. From that night on, he would tell me when it was time to go to bed and would literally tell me to come on and close up the house so we could get comfy together. He would wait till I was settled in the bed and the covers just where I wanted them. Then, he would lightly hop on the bed and find a curved spot just for him up against my legs or side. He would purr for a while and put us both to sleep.

I have had a few more rounds with my pancreatitus, and each time P.K. sensed when I was not feeling well. It really does seem uncanny that a cat would be able to do that, but he did and he does. He is very protective of me. Aside from being the most handsome cat in the world - the world according to P.K. that is - he is very intelligent and knows when he is being spoken to or about. You can almost see his mind working to follow the conversation. Yes, I love all my animals dearly, but P.K. has a very special place in my life and in my heart. His is truly a gifted cat.
