Majesty,
my handsome and lively three-year-old Snowshoe cat, came to own
me on 4th of July, 1998 at the airport in Columbus, Ohio. We were united
through Teri Davis of Wexford, PA, who runs PAWSFREE, a rescue for cats
and dogs. Through her rescue efforts, Majesty now has a wonderful,
loving home. Majesty got his name from Teri, who told him through cage
bars at a shelter after much coaxing and no response from him,
"Well, all right, be like that your Majesty," to which he
finally bestowed a royal "meow" to her!
Majesty had large paws to fill after my only other Snowshoe cat of 16+
years, Popeye, went over the Rainbow Bridge months before. Since
adopting beautiful blue-eyed Majesty, he's brought much laughter with
all his mischievous antics like doing tumblesets when catching paper
balls, unscrewing bolts on my wrought iron furniture, snickering at
outdoor birds through the sliding glass door, and playing with his
favorite toy doll. He dines like royalty out of his own engraved bowl
with "His Majesty" on it. He truly gets lots of love and
attention besides being treated like the king he thinks he is. One of
the cutest habits Majesty has is playing with his "doll," a
beanie-stuffed flower girl. He totes her around in his mouth everywhere
and flips her high into the air so he can run and catch her and toss her
again!
