This
is my cat Chocolatte. She is a beautiful blue-eyed chocolate
point or seal point Siamese according to my cat expert neighbor.
Chocolatte is about one year old and lives with our family in
Hesperia, California. Chocolatte came to us from a coworker of my
husbands. It turns out that Chocolatte belonged to his girlfriend,
who left... another story. He was not home enough and she was
lonely. My husband brought her home and she settled in fast. She did
not hide or try and run away from us. She was very friendly and just
beautiful!
On Tuesday, August 7, my daughter Danyelle's birthday, we noticed that
she was gone. We had the house closed up because the A/C was
running, so we could not understand how she snuck out! We were
worried because we live in the high desert of southern California and
there are coyotes and loose dogs that run around the neighborhood.
Chocolatte was gone for four days. I started to believe the worst had
happened. Early Saturday morning while I was checking e-mail, I say
my husband streak outside to the back yard. He whispered to me, "She's
back!"
I could not believe it, there she was, walking alongside a planter!
She was spooked by us running out towards her and started to run to
the next door neighbors yard. But I had a trick in the refrigerator.
We has some leftover salmon. I took the whole plate out to my husband
while I tried to get my dogs settled down. She came to him and
started to munch out on the salmon. She was thin and scared. We
brought her inside and she ate like a pig, drank like a camel and
slept! I don't know how she survived those four days outside in the heat
of 100º or more with out much food or water and animals that would
much like her for a meal! We went out and bought her a new bed and
some treats to show her how lucky she is to have a loving home. (Can
you really bribe a cat?) We hope she doesn't give us a scare like
that ever again!
