This
is Tubby. He is 15 1/2 years old, and resides in the Chicagoland
area. He is my buddy and we have been through a lot together. I got
Tubby when he was about six months old from a friend who was moving to a
"No Pets Allowed" apartment. She had named him Bitsy because he was such
an itsy bitsy little kitty. She thought he was a female, and I never
bothered to check, so I was somewhat surprised when I took him to the
vet to get spayed and the vet told me he would be happy to do it, but he
could not be spayed. Oops! ;-) I was living in Green Bay, WI and have
gone through various moves and decisions about what I want to do with my
life. Tubby stayed with my parents a few times until I got settled, and
was presented with a "sister" when Peanut arrived on the scene.
Eventually I moved to Chicago and Tubby and Peanut made the long trip to
join me. Now, fourteen years after I first got him, he lives comfortably with
his "sister," his "dad" and me, his "mom." He loves to lay in the sun
and his black coat glistens when he is done cleaning himself. He is
always there to great me when I get home from work, and in the evenings
when we're on the couch watching TV, there is no place he would rather
be than right next to me. I sometimes call him my "velcro kitty" because
he is always "stuck" to me. If I'm upstairs, he's upstairs. If I'm in
the bedroom, he's in the bedroom. No matter where I go, he will
follow. Another thing he really likes is when I pat his butt and he
bumps his head on his "daddy's" leg. He is a good helper in everything,
but he especially likes to help his "dad" in the garage, and does a good
job of keeping mice out of the engines of our cars (as you can see by
the picture). He absolutely loves his milk which he only gets on
Saturday and Sunday mornings, and he definitely knows when it's Saturday
and time for his milk. There's is no way we could forget because he is
very vocal about reminding us. He still sleeps with me every night and
helps me get ready in the morning, chases his "sister" around the house,
or she chases him. He has not slowed down any as he gets older, and I am
thankful because so far he has had no health problems whatsoever, and I
expect him to be around for quite a few more years yet.
