About Us
Peanut, the Cat of the Day
Name: Peanut
Age: Ten years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Siamese
Home: Fall River, Massachusetts, USA

Our old girl Peanut got her name rather unintentionally. We placed a deposit with the pet shop to hold him and was told that the kitten would be ready to leave it's mother and littermates in two weeks. We planned to name him Simon, which we thought was appropriate for a Siamese cat.

When we returned to visit a week later, we were then told that we could take the kitten home. What we also learned that day was, Simon was, in fact, a female. Ok, no problem. We decided to change the name from Simon to Simone.

Simone was extraordinarily tiny for an eight week old kitten. She was so tiny that, when she would curl up into a ball to sleep, she could fit in the palm of your hand. Within the first week, her size got her into a bit of trouble. She somehow managed to squeeze through a small hole underneath our bathroom vanity. It took us hours to find her, and when we did, we couldn't coax her to come out. We had to tear off the wooden face plate at the bottom of the vanity so that we could reach in and get her out. Forever after, she became known as "The Little Peanut", and the name somehow stuck.

Since then, we have had so much fun with her. Peanut plays fetch just like a dog, and loves to eat chicken. She always seems to know when it is being prepared in the kitchen. "Peany" sometimes shows us her love by nipping at our ankles and always forgives us when we nip her tail in return. She is still quite feisty and playful for her age and will always be an irreplaceable part of our family. She will always be the queen of our home, and we love her very much.
