This
is a photo of my great friend Kiwi. She is the Alpha Cat of our
house (although the smallest). Her ancestry is unknown to me, but with
her long hair she certainly has some Maine Coon and perhaps a touch of
the Oriental, judging from her blue-green eyes and strong personality.
This picture was taken one day as she enjoyed a heat wave we were
experiencing in Virginia. She and her buddies have an enclosed outdoor
run behind our house.
Kiwi is exceptionally bright. She will look at us
with wise eyes that are at times unsettling -- she seems to know more
than we do about a variety of subjects. She has no time for fools: one
of her housemates is a 25 pound Maine Coon named Mojo who tends to get into
situations that irritate Kiwi.
She is a very nice friend to have around if you are feeling under the
weather. She will grace you with her super-soft presence all day if you
are in bed. She is also a wannabe-artist. I paint for a living, and she
often "helps" me with my work. One time she tracked crimson paw prints
all over a nice blue sky -- I think she was trying to make an artistic
statement of some kind, so I wasn't annoyed. She doesn't know I
nominated her - in fact, she is not obsessed with her looks at all.
