My
wonderful ten-year-old tiger cat, Prudence, had died of cancer three
weeks before Ginger arrived at my office. Ginger was only ten weeks old,
when a client of ours brought her to us. The kitten had been abandoned
by her mother, and was very happy for the attention everyone at work was
giving her. It was too soon for me to have another animal companion, or
so I thought. Ginger was being very sweet and affectionate. Before the
day was over, I knew I wanted to keep her. My boss approved the
suggestion of having an office cat. It was quickly decided that Ginger
would stay at the office during the day, and I would bring her home with
me at night. I did not want her to be lonely, and I had an eight year
old dark calico, Epi, at home in need of a friend.
Over the past year, Ginger has become an important part of our office
family, as well as my own. Clients and co-workers find her endearing,
and I love having her with me at my job. When I am getting ready to
leave in the morning, Ginger instinctively gets into her carrier to come
to the office. When I am leaving work, she does the same. She is very
excited to go home and play with Epi. Having a kitten in the house again
has been fun. Epi herself tries to keep up with Ginger's antics.
I enjoy her boundless energy with her toys, and hearing her purr on my
pillow when I go to sleep. It has been fun having her at work all day,
and having her curl up on my lap when we get home. It is as if she
herself has had a long day at the office, and is very content to finally
be home with her family. She is an indoor cat, who commutes to and from
work every day. Everyone is very happy to have her.
