This
is Marilyn, who came to live with me last February. As with all of
my cats, she was a rescue kitty who someone was feeding by UT
Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She and a couple of her tuxedo
brothers were trapped with a Hav-A-Heart and brought in to my
veterinarian's office. She received a clean bill of health and they knew
I would be interested in her since she resembled my cat Mason who I had
lost several years ago. I had really wanted another Birman, but was
apprehensive for a couple of reasons. First of all, Mason was a shelter
cat which is the only way I believe in adopting cats. Thus, a pure breed
was out of the question and I knew having a cat that looked like Mason
would not be the same as my beloved boy.
Marilyn has been an absolute delight and, although she definitely does
not have Mason's personality, she has a personality quite suited to her!
She is extremely loveable and spurts out little Mews to talk to me. She
is also known as Bunny Fufu, a pet name that suits the little princess
well! She has settled into life as a housecat magnificently and has fun
playing chase with all her brothers and sisters. She waits for me to get
out of the shower each morning and bats at the curtain. When I open it,
she peeks in giving me a big mew and a hearty purr! Although she loves
everyone in the house, she is not too sure about outsiders and will dive
behind the stove until she decides it's okay to resurface! I am so
fortunate to have Marilyn in my life, I smile every time I see her. It
also brings me great joy to know I have provided a home to a cat that
started out with not too much of a chance in life!
