This
is Catman. Catman is special because he is a true survival case!
When I was sixteen, I was in the parking lot of my apartment building
(we lived in Texas at the time) when I heard a yowling coming from my
building's dumpster. The sound was somewhat muffled, but from what I
could hear, it sounded like a baby!!! I climbed inside and rooted
through the bags of garbage until I found a small cardboard box from
which the sounds seemed to be coming. The box was taped shut with duct
tape and it took me quite a while to open it. Inside I found a tiny,
starving black kitten. He was horribly skinny and very afraid. As soon
as he was free, he jumped out of the dumpster and ran into the bushes. I
thought that was that, and I started back to my door. I'd figured he'd
run off into the dark, and that searching for him, a small black cat in
the dark, would be a lost cause. When I got to my door and went to put
my key in the lock, I felt a furry body rub against my leg. I looked
down to see the cat! "Hello Cat," I said, and he mewed. I opened my
apartment's street door and he walked right in and followed me to my
elevator. When we got to the apartment, he walked in as if he owned the
place and jumped right onto the couch. The rest is history. He's been a
part of my life ever since. He's an unusual cat with a bizarre way about
him, but I wouldn't trade him for anything. What can I say, I'm appalled
at whoever put him in the dumpster, but I'm very thankful that this
wonderful feline is now a part of my life.
