This
is our kitten Sioux (read as "si iu ks" - in my native language we
read it as it is written). We got him as a three-month-old kitten and now he
is seven months old. My husband works and travels a lot, so we got Sioux to
be my company. And he does a very good job! He is extremely
affectionate. He has to be around us (or rather on us) all the time. He
still sometimes sleeps with us or usually on us at night.
He is very clever. He knows exactly what he can or cannot do, which of
course doesn't mean he wouldn't do things he shouldn't. But he listens
to me and usually does what I tell him to do, like follow me, come here,
sit here, etc. The biggest problem are his claws. In our country no vet
would declaw a cat. He doesn't ruin things on purpose, but he sometimes
gets wild and "attacks" us (I understand him because he is originally a
"village" cat and we made him an "apartment" cat, so he has too much
energy sometimes), so my hands suffer constantly. We also call him "Wild
Boy." He loves to play with all kinds of things, but his most favorite
are small furry mice or just a plastic bottle lid. His interests change
as he is growing up though. His newest interest is "making up a plan of
escape". Maybe it's the warm weather that is "calling him". He knows when
we are getting ready to leave and stands at the door. We then have to
somehow distract him and run away! It's getting more and more difficult!
We live in a penthouse apartment, so for him to see the outside world,
we made a "porch" at the window, we open the window a little, and he can
see all the birds on the roof. It's very exciting for him.
The most special thing about Sioux is that he likes water! He likes to
jump in the bath tub (empty, although he has already jumped in a full
one too) and lick the water. We have also found him in the sink one
night. When I shower, he likes to play with the stream of water. Well,
this is my "baby" and, as you can see, I could talk or write about him
on and on.
