Nigel
is a very distinctive cat, both in appearance and his diplomatic
grace around our other cats and human visitors. He's quite a hit with
our lady guests, and always the center of attention at the vet's
office.
Year 2002 was not so good for Nigel; he went through the local animal
shelter twice, before being adopted by Judy and Peter, who changed his
name to Nigel from Beethoven. We can look back and laugh now, but Nigel
was not even smiling when his last human owner dumped him back in the
pound (it's their policy to accept cats back if anything goes wrong, and
not all cats get along with all people, no matter how hard the shelter's
staff try to match them up). A concert pianist first adopted Nigel from
the shelter. But Nigel's desire for attention interfered with piano
practice, so they had to part. The shelter would only adopt Nigel to a
non-piano home on the next go around.
We don't know Nigel's early history, but he's a magnificent Snowshoe
marked large cat, and a potential candidate for cat shows. Nigel is
very easy going. He took a while to participate in play with our
kittens, but now he rolls around with cats half his size. Nigel enjoys
human company, and will follow Peter from room to room, he still jumps
up without warning, but now it's just a computer keyboard that he's
messing up and not a concert recital!
