Our
kitty Basil, named after the character Basil Fawlty of the English
television show Fawlty Towers, was left behind the day all the other
pets got to go out on location for adoptions. The poor little kitty had
an infection in his eye that kept him in the shelter that Saturday. The
goopy-eyed kitten repeatedly bumped into the door of his cage, looking
at us with his good eye, with a look that cried out "Love me! Love me!
Take me home!"
His fur is black and soft resembling that of a chinchilla and one bright
white fang is always hanging out. Basil rarely meows and is the terror
of the house, constantly trying to get the other cats and the dog to
play with him. We have discovered that in a former life he must have
been a world class soccer player - he is lightning fast and one of his
favorite kitty games is batting chunks of dog food until he loses them
under the furniture. Also, he and the other cats love playing
"thunder-cats" up and down the hallway and through the house at all
hours of the day and night. Basil is incredibly intelligent and gives
us hours of entertainment watching him scoop food up out of his bowl and
bring it to his mouth to eat it from his paw.
