Ritz, the Cat of the Day
Name: Ritz
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Orange Tabby
Home: Miami, Florida, USA

After a year of mourning the loss of my twelve-year-old cat, Ringo, to diabetes-complications, I decided that it was time to find another feline companion... I never thought that I could "love another cat" again, until Ritz came along... Following the tip of a good friend, about six months ago, I found Ritz at a Pet Supermarket, where The Cat Network people were showing that weekend. Ritz had incidentally been picked up at my neighborhood Macaroni Grill only a few days before -- and went by the name "Roni Macaroni." Despite the fact that someone had already applied to adopt him, I decided to give it a shot, and was delighted when Maria (the foster mother) chose me over the other applicant.

We wanted a short and sassy name, so we decided on Ritz, after our favorite hotel - and cracker (as his fur is the color of a Ritz cracker). When she finally brought him over he was extremely shy and fearful, scurrying away from any hands trying to pet him or grab him. I was surprised to see how soon all that vanished. He has also grown, healthy and happy. He is not only beautiful, playful, bold, and hilarious ... he is my daily joy and companion when I'm alone. He makes me Laugh Out Loud with his antics, like biting our toes in the middle of the night if he's bored (my boyfriend is not too happy with this); trying to keep me from making the bed in the morning; then he attempts to get into the sink while I brush my teeth; and now he wants to get into the shower too...

I recently got him a pet-fountain, as he loves running water! Yes, he is very spoiled, but he deserves it. He will soon get a cat-leash to walk outside in the golf-course... Cucu, our crazy lovebird, and Ritz have adjusted well. She sets him straight... by biting his nose each time "it" trespasses the bars of her cage. Now he sleeps on top of her cage...
