Sylvia,
Julius (my Persian Kitty) and I moved to South Carolina from
mid-town Manhattan a few years ago. It has been quite a change for all
of us, but, Sylvia has refused to adapt... she remains a true New
Yorker, as seen in this picture. I just know she's saying..."Get over
it! It's faux fur!!!"
Sylvia is a true New Yorker with attitude to spare. She is very
independent, only coming upstairs to sleep at night if she deems it cold
enough for her. She has made it very obvious that it is her house and
she has allowed us to remain only because she enjoys playing with us.
Her favorite game is whacking Stella ("her pet" Maltese, four years old) on
the nose and teasing her because she can't jump on the chairs. Being a
city girl, now living in a small town, she missed sunning herself on our
16th floor terrace, so, I had a small screened in porch built for her so
that she can watch all the birds she never knew existed. That she
enjoys!
Julius, (another "pet" for Sylvia...my six year old Persian) the sweetest,
most gentle animal, almost asks permission to sun himself on the porch
if "her highness" is out there. But, if either Julius or Stella have to
spend the night at the vet's, Sylvia walks the house all night looking
for them and will allow me only a view of her back until their return. I
think she really loves us.
