Bink
started her life far away and as a totally different cat. She lived
with another family in Maine with her sister. (The sisters had the names
Inca and Puma.) That family moved to Tallahassee but did not want to
bring the cats all the way down with them, so they dropped them off at
my mother's house in upstate New York. I, being a cat person, wanted
these cats because I knew they needed a good home where they could be
inside and together. Well, by the time I was ready to take them, one had
run away. I took the one that remained. My mother did not know which
one ran away so we didn't know that name of the one remaining cat, so I
renamed her Bink.
When I got her she was a little bit of a thing. She was about two years
old and full of energy and playfulness. In the six years I have had her
she has bulked up to a healthy seventeen pounds. She has been with me through so
many ups and downs. Two breakups and five moves. She's lived in three
different states and has driven with me down the East coast. She's lived
with two dogs and at various times five or six other cats. (Currently she and
my newest cat have become the best of friends.) All the while adjusting
to each and every change with grace. She is the queen of every place she
lives.
She's a lazy little queen now, too. Her favorite thing is to sleep, on
her back, with her legs spread wide. She enjoys going onto the porch and
laying in the sun. She also loves to get into any empty box that may be
laying around, no matter how small, she'll find a way to get part or all
of her body in it or on it.
She is my rock and my constant companion. She is always by my side when
I wake morning, making it difficult to get out of bed, and she always
greets me at the door when I get home from work. I don't know what I
would have done without her all these years. She is my little furry love.
