Ziggy
adopted my husband and I right after we lost my mother and an
older cat, both within the same year. This tiny package brought us the
greatest amount of love imaginable and truly helped us through those
first difficult holidays. I will always cherish the memory of her little
warm, furry body resting near my shoulder as I had to fill out all the
Christmas cards that would have otherwise seemed so difficult. Her love
and silliness made us laugh from the beginning. We were told by many she
was a "dwarf kitty" and had "short ears and chubby cheeks."
She is now almost three years old (she's only a couple months in the
photo) and sure enough still remains small at about six pounds.
However, despite her petiteness, she is an ornery little ball of energy
and playfulness. Her favorite interests are chasing lizards in our
back yard, earning her the title Lizard Lady, or playing under the sheets
on our bed. She loves to "help" me fold blankets and towels, jumping in
the laundry basket to play when it's empty. Her other nicknames are
Zigster, Little Ziglet, or Zig-Zag. She is also proudly featured on this
wonderful author, Andrea Campbell's website,
who wrote a book called Bringing Up Ziggy about a capuchin monkey. Our
kitten Ziggy is like a little "monkey" and is flattered to share the same
name as the star of this sweet book! Since she has come to live with us,
we have gotten another kitten, Blacky, and they are now best friends and
partners in crime. Ziggy will always be my precious baby who helped me
through one of the saddest years of my life and still brings us wonderful
love every day!
