This
round, watermarked, shorthaired orange tabby lady goes by the name
Amber, after the stone. She came into our life as a malnourished one-
year-old SPCA kitty over two years ago. She looked so much like a cat we
had previously owned that we thought it must be fate. From the day we
took her home, curled up in my lap, she has been nothing but a joy in
our life. Amber, for her first year in our house, was the only kitty.
During this time she perfected the role of the spoiled, supermodel cat.
A year later she was humbled, and not so pleased at first, with the
arrival of our second cat, Romeo. Today, however, she loves to torment
and tease her little brother with the love only an older sister could
show.
Amber's hobbies include sitting on her aqua cat seat in the sun-room
pining over birds and squirrels, pouncing and wrestling with her little
grey mouse toy (before batting it under the stove for me to retrieve
over and over), finding and nesting in freshly washed laundry until she
has sufficiently covered it in fur, and chasing and ambushing her
brothers around the house. Amber does not want to believe that she is a
cat sometimes, taking full part in dinner conversations from under the
table and yelling right back at you when being disciplined. She is so
vocal with her booming meow that it is hard not to believe she isn't
telling you a story of some kind.
