This
is a picture of my purebred Siberian Forest cat, named Princess
Sasha. She was flown in to Montreal, Quebec, Canada from Minnesota. I
immediately fell in love with her. I often find her in the strangest
positions and places and have all kinds of comical pictures of her. She
is extremely affectionate and playful. This is my favorite "rugrat"
picture of her.
She is now six months old and is an important part of my daily life
since finding myself victim of the empty nest syndrome. You cat lovers
may understand when I tell you how special I feel to have Sasha greet me
at the door every time I walk in. She dutifully will not leave my
bedside until I finally get up. Then we go through the "make the bed
with the lump under the sheets" ritual. I haven't quite figured out how
to keep her from waiting and staring wide eyed as I go through my daily
bathroom duties. Within two weeks of having her home, she was trained to
meow and sit up and beg when I say the word "treat." I had to pass that
duty on to my husband as she was not giving him the same attention as I
was receiving. Now as he enters the door she runs to the kitchen and
waits for her "treat" from him. Sadly, I have gone through my "horror"
moments of fearing she may have sneaked out the door (indoor cat only)
when realizing I haven't seen her around lately. After checking every
corner of the house, every container and drawer and opening every door
while shaking the can of treats for her to emerge, I would hear a faint
meow and guiltily realize I closed her into a closet. Once I found her
sleepily staring at me from up high on a book shelf as she calmly yawned
and watched me panicking as I called out her name a few dozen
times... sigh!
This particular breed of cat, introduced to North America from Russia in
1990, is known to be very loyal, playful and intelligent. Sasha makes a
kind of chirping sound when watching birds out the window, and does a
combination gurgle purr when content. I love her to pieces!
