Maya
Laquita Linn (Maya Linn named after the designer of the Vietnam
Wall) is very unique. Found roaming the airport with her mama and
brother in San Juan, Puerto Rico, they were shipped via American
Airlines to Connecticut as part of the Adopt-A-Soto program. Puerto
Rico had no animal control at the time so all animals, cat, dogs, etc.,
just roamed the streets, scared, hungry and abused.
Maya was adopted at an adoption day held by a local rescue organization.
As a volunteer for that organization, I got the opportunity to hold her
(she was only twelve weeks old at the time) and get to know her. Her
magnetizing big blue eyes melted my heart. She came home with me that
day. Maya's middle name, Laquita, is so that she does not forget her
roots. She is a very talkative little girl who, at 2 1/2 is still very
kittenish. She loves playing with the sparkle balls, and will initiate
a game of fetch every chance she gets. Maya loves to do a head over
flip onto her back. It's her way of saying "Look at me, aren't I just
the most cutest thing you ever saw??"
Maya also has a show name, Princess Maya Linn of Follybrook. From the
time she was old enough, she was shown in cat shows in the household pet
category. The judges were amazed at her unusual coloring. She went on
to win 3rd Best Household Pet Kitten Nationally in the American
Association of Cat Enthusiasts. I am very proud of my little girl. She
is very vocal. When I look in her blue eyes, she will say "Ma." If I
don't get up in the morning at the exact time her hunger alarm goes off,
she gently gives me "love bites" on the nose. I love Maya very much
along with her five other brothers and sisters (all rescues). She warms my
heart and is very special to me.
