Proud
to be an American! Mickey is one kewl cat! Every evening when we
bring in the American Flag from out doors, and drape it across the
sofa, he shows his patriotism by becoming one with the flag! Laying
there, with the attitude of, "No, you can't take this away from me!"
Right on Mick! I'm with you!
Mickey became a part of this family thirteen and a half years ago as an
abandoned kitten, left in a house after the tenant moved out. Not
exactly certain how long this little guy was without food and water, but
believe you me, he was one hungry and thirsty kitty, when we took him
in. We had already two grown cats in our home, and they were not at all
pleased when this little fella moved in! Immediately Mickey felt right
at home, and tried to introduce him self to the other two cats. A lot
of hissing took place, but little ol' Mickey wouldn't let up! Even
though Mickey didn't know better, he decided he would be in charge of
everything... Food, water, play, affection... Big mistake! The other
two cats taught him quickly that he had his place, and it wasn't going
to be at the top! Eventually all three cats grew to not only tolerate
each other, but actually became fond of one another: They would often
act as if they didn't miss each other, if one of the cats was hiding in
the house, or outdoors, but I could tell them missed one another, as
they would cry out for the missing kitty, until he showed up!
Mickey has always been a bit of an independent cat, hasn't always had
much to say. It wasn't until a few years back when the other two cats
passed on, that he knew if he wanted something, he was going to have to
speak up, as the other cats, that use to do all the talking were no
longer around to speak for him. He has since become quite vocal!
Sometimes annoyingly so!
Mickey loves to be loved! One of his favorite things is to be brushed
with an old soft toothbrush. A toothbrush works very well, and is very
gentle around the face, ears and under the chin! Even in his Senior
years, ol' Mickey still likes his catnip and toy cloth mouse, and of
course any chance he can get to sit in my lap while I'm at the
computer, he is there. We haven't ever had a cat live as long as Mickey.
I can only hope that we will be able to enjoy his company for a few
more years. He has been a really joy to have in our lives, I
can't imagine our life with out this good ol boy!
