About Us
Sammy, the Cat of the Day
Name: Sammy
Age: Six years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Shelbyville, Kentucky, USA

My "Grandmother" rescued me from the road side when I was a tiny baby. She then conned my now "Mom and Dad" into taking me home with them. They taught me how to eat food and drink water from a bowl. We played all of the time. I was (and still am) their pride and joy. Then we moved from an apartment into a nice house with stairs that I could run up and down. There were more surprises to come with this move. Mom started putting out food for this wild feral cat that she spotted (she is an old softy). Pretty soon the cat began to sort of trust her. Well the next thing you know she starts bringing her weaned babies to us and leaving them for us to feed! After Mom and Dad started noticing that babies were getting sick or killed by cars on the road they went into action! She and Dad started tricking, trapping, or grabbing babies every chance they got. Over the years now she and Dad have managed to rescue eight feral kittens. They all now live in the house with me!

Mom and Dad say that the reason I am so special is because of my patience and kindness. I now have to share all my special spots in the house, my toys, my food dish, and my bed! These wild cats have no respect for my stuff!!! I have never been mean to any of them though. I know their life has been filled with hard times. I was lucky and got rescued while I was really young. Mom says that I am kind, very tolerant, and easy going with all the cats that we rescue. I have even become really good friends with a couple of them. Mom and Dad say that it takes a very special boy to put up with all that I do. I know that they love me very much and that will never change. No matter how many they rescue I will always be the first and best Sammy Boy ever!
