About Us
Sharky, the Cat of the Day
Name: Sharky
Age: Six years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Domestic Shorthair
Home: Waterloo, Iowa, USA

I got Sharky in 1997 after I had moved to Iowa from Wyoming. I had another kitty named Toad at the time whom I brought with me from Wyoming. My sister knew some people on a farm that had new kittens. She said one of them reminded her of Tacky (my first kitty that I had for 18 years who had passed away of old age in 1995). We went to the farm and sure enough I fell in love with that little gray and white kitty. I took him home and Toad adopted him and became his babysitter while I was at work. I didn't know what to name my new kitty. I was watching the movie "Sharky's Machine" and thought that would be a good name for a gray kitty that likes to bite things.

Sharky became a pest!! He would climb on everything and get into trouble. I had to rescue him several times from tall trees! He only goes outside on the leash now, because we moved and only have a small yard. (The picture is of Sharky playing in his garden.) He loved Toad so much, they were never apart. When Toad died, Sharky got really ornery for a while. Some of that has left him, but he will still bite you if you get him too excited while petting him. (Especially my husband. I tell him it is love bites). He likes for you to play the bongo drums on his back. Sharky loves me and will sleep on my head or against my neck and drool all over me!! He also likes to drink out of the faucet and has taught Dylan to do the same. We decided to get him a new brother and that is when we got Dylan. He has been a good brother to Dylan our other kitty.
