Madison
and his littermate, Bandit, came to me July of 2002. I had just
finished college and was really missing having animals around (at home
I've always had cats and dogs). One of my friend's barn cats had a
litter of kittens in April-May so I decided to take one... needless to
say, one turned into two when I decided I couldn't let my kitten grow up
without a playmate in an apartment in the city. Both cats are very
special to me; they have helped me through many problems and tough times
while learning to live on my own in a strange city (I'm a country girl
originally!).
These two photos were taken the same day I thought I almost lost Maddy.
Since we live in the city, Madison and Bandit are strictly indoor cats,
but Madison would be perfectly happy to be an outdoor cat... or so he
tries to tell me. One particular day he escaped three times. Luckily the
snow was melting and there was a huge puddle at the bottom of the
stairs. That fact gave me enough time to scoop him up and toss him back
indoors. There are several stray (big) dogs around, plus we live on a
corner of a very busy street; he wouldn't have stood a chance.
That was a scare, and we are all glad life has returned to normal - but
he doesn't look a bit worse for wear, does he? He is a very good cat,
even if the urge for the great outdoors sometimes strikes him!
