The
"Divine Miss Eminem" is a gorgeous two-year-old Maine Coon Mix living
in Las Vegas. She was one of my daughter's cats (rescued from the animal
shelter after she reached her paw out of the cage and tapped her on the
shoulder). She's very special to us because she kept our dying 15 1/2
year old cat company in her last days. My husband and I "borrowed" Em to
keep our Mandy company, which she did quite nicely. We were so upset
with Mandy's passing that Emily stayed on "for a bit" to comfort us.
(She truly was a tremendous help.)
The next thing we knew, it was several weeks later, and our daughter was
at our house with "Adoption Papers", which were all done up in Legalese
on nice paper with spaces for the required signatures! Needless to say
we signed without hesitation, and "Emily Louise" became "officially
ours," although our daughter maintains maternal and visiting rights -
and exercises them faithfully! She tells us that she knew Emily would
never be coming back to live with her after she saw how happy this
wonderful kitty made us - Emily has that gift.
So now precious Em has my husband (her "grampie") wrapped around her
little paws. And you can bet that she knows it too! She waits for him to
get home from working the swing shift because he always greets her with
a nice back scratch - one of her favorite things. Emily has also proven
to be quite the actress. We have watched her fake a leg injury which
responded nicely to the sound of the can opener, and one time even total
paralysis of her back paws only to be miraculously cured by the sound of
the patio door being opened. We were thinking of getting her an agent!
