We
had been searching at various shelters for a cat to adopt for quite a
long time. One day, we met little Simba. She looked at us with her big
yellow eyes and we knew she was the one for us! She came home with us a
skinny cat with a bad cold and fleas. But after some love and pampering,
she got better and became the fun and playful cat that she is today.
Instead of playing with toys that we buy her from the store, she loves
objects that are basically garbage - elastic bands, gift wrap ribbon,
corks, bottle caps, shopping bags - you name it! She is perpetually
curious but a big chicken at the same time ... she will take a peek and
then run away.
We have also discovered that Simba is a thinking cat. One day, quite by
accident, we left her closed in our bedroom. Her litter box was far away
in another bathroom. We came home much later to find that somehow, a
plastic shopping bag had mysteriously made its way into our ensuite
bathroom. She had actually done her "business" inside the bag. It was
all quite mind-boggling how she knew not to soil the carpet (she had
gotten in trouble for that once before) by using the tile floor in the
bathroom as well as this bag. We are still in awe to this day.
