This
is Aretha. She's a lovely marbled cat with speckled belly. She
lives with me and her 'sister' Gladys in Maryland. Aretha is a rescue
cat - she and her siblings were found at a couple of days old by a
dumpster. When I adopted her, I also adopted Gladys - who isn't a blood
sister to Aretha, but is close to the same age - and they came home
together with me. At first, Aretha was the larger and more dominant of
the two, but those roles reversed so that now Aretha is harassed by
Gladys - that makes me feel a special bond with Aretha.
Even though Gladys might compete for attention, Aretha knows how to get
her loving: when I'm going up the stairs, Aretha beats me to the top and
by the time I reach her, she has assumed this belly-scratching pose. The
other time she has my undivided attention is when I turn the shower
water off. When she hears it go off, she immediately appears, knowing
that she will get her loving. She's a sweetie!
