About Us
Greebo, the Cat of the Day
Name: Greebo
Age: Six months old
Gender: Male
Kind: European Shorthair
Home: Munich, Germany

Greebo is the most talkative cat I've ever seen. Whenever he is hungry, sleepy or in need of a stroke, he will come around, look at us and speak some unintelligible cat gibberish. The picture shows him in full action.

Well, when we got Greebo, he was just three months old, but he was storming our apartment with the cool self-consciousness of a twelve-year-old Persian. Curious about just about everything, he immediately chose our lamb fur as his favorite resting place - we have not been able to retrieve it up to now. Whenever someone approaches the fur he will outrace him and sit boldly in the middle of the fur braying loudly about the injustice nearly done to him.

In the meantime he has grown to at least twice his size at arrival, enabling him to paw around the kitchen table without leaving the ground. Since we have forbidden him to stroll around our dinner table he will just stretch from the ground and try to snatch pieces of chicken from the plates.

Being a really clever cat he is able to retrieve almost anything thrown down the corridor. Pens, milk bottle caps, walnuts, plastic spoons - whatever you like, as long as it produces fascinating shuffling noises on the floor. Regardless of losses among the nearby passing apartment inhabitants, he will speed after the retrieving device, bumping into the couch or the door in the attempt to control the escaping victim. When he gets the thing in his mouth he will return to his composed serenity, carry it back to the person he would like to throw it next, and bleats encouragingly.

He always likes to be in the center of everything. Fearing he might miss something important outside, he will only go to his kitten toilet when one of us goes to toilet - and when he has got a full bladder, he will try to urge someone to go to toilet with him.

But the most impressive feature about Greebo is his rich vocabulary. Without looking we are in the meantime able to tell what he is doing right then just by listening to him miaowing to himself and to the surrounding in general. Every person entering the apartment is involved in a lengthy conversation, presumably about cod, chicken and mice.

So in summary: Greebo is just the perfect companion to keep you from being bored.
