Lock, the Cat of the Day
Name: Lock
Age: Six months old
Gender: Male
Kind: Bengal
Home: Carrollton, Texas, USA

Lock is cool because he was born on the day my boyfriend and I met, Independence Day. He is the most vocal cat I've ever known, and is an athlete in the purest form. He is unconditionally loving and captivatingly beautiful. He loves all people, and, is very sure of himself, as the photo suggests. And, he's special simply because he's a cat.

Lock actually got his name almost on a whim. I'm really into naming pets with creativity and originality. I love people names, too. My past pets were Bruno and Dusty (both named either by other people or when I was very young!), but, even those names are more like people names. :) As for Lock, my boyfriend and I had a lot of ideas that we wrote down for about a week. He was nameless for almost two weeks! We are both fans of the Matrix trilogy, which is where we heard the name Link. And, through just random conversations, Link became Lock. And, as it turns out, Lock is also a character in the Matrix. And, I'm a tremendous Tim Burton fan, and, one of my favorite movies of his is The Nightmare Before Christmas. One of the characters is also named Lock (Lock, Shock, and, Barrel is a trio of devious, mask wearing children). We had names like Aris, Harp (which was short for Harpocrates, who was the God of Silence, and, how ironic would that have been!), etc. A lot of thought went into his name. But, Lock is easy, and, he responds well to it.

I haven't taught him any tricks, but I know I could very easily. He's really funny with the use of his paws. He actually touches you lightly with one if he wants your attention. Just last night, he had his paw on my back as I laid down, and, he kept tapping me with it until I petted him. He can jump about five feet from a stand still, and almost always incorporates a back flip into it, just for show. He's a complete ham, the photo looks like he's completely posing. It's such a "look at me" photo. He is not the independent cat at all, he's always wanting attention and will take it from anyone that wants to give it to him. He has his favorite people, but, will literally love on anyone!
