This
is Jasmine, the beautiful Siamese mix kitty cat that I adopted from the
Humane Society of Southwest Washington last year. Jasmine lives with my
parents now, as they recently lost their cat "Billie Jo" that was their
faithful feline companion for seventeen years. My parents are 80 years
old and they love Jasmine with all of their hearts. Jasmine loves them
in return, and she is the perfect pet for them. Neither my mother nor my
father can sit down on the sofa or on a chair but Jasmine is immediately
up in their lap purring up a storm. She follows them around the house
like a puppy and the folks love to spend time with her every day playing
'fetch' with her many cat toys and grooming her with her brush.
Jasmine is extremely affectionate and loves to play with her many cat
toys. She especially likes to play 'fetch' with a small ball of paper.
You toss the paper ball across the floor or down the hallway, and she
goes after it at full-speed. She will then bring it back to you so that
you can throw it for her again.
While friendly to everyone, she simply adores my mother and will jump up
in her lap every time my mother sits down, and jump up on her and go to
sleep every time my mother lies down to sleep at night, or even to take
a nap during the afternoon. Jasmine loves to watch the birds and
squirrels out in the back yard as well, and will even chase after them at
times, but she seems more intent on the game of playing than on actually
catching one of them. It is truly a match made in heaven.
