Scout,
is also known as Scoutman, 'coutman (like Cartman from
Southpark), 'cout, the man, man. Scout was a rescue kitty found in my
college town of Gainesville, FL. He was found in the street as a
kitten, curled up next to an air conditioning vent on a cold night.
After some students found him and took him to the veterinarian for
treatment, the Dr. had to amputate half of his tail. He also has scars
on the little pads of his feet, and is also declawed. Poor little boy!
But no need to worry because Scout is quite spoiled and happy after all.
When my sister and I were older and 'left the nest', Scout has replaced
us as my parent's pride and joy. They even let me talk to him on the
phone when I call! He is very vocal and has become even more so over
the years, we often try to interpret his meows! He does not have a very
loud purr, but we can feel the vibrations on his neck and hear if you
get real close. Scout has a bit of a belly, weighing approximately 15
pounds.
When Scout was living in our old house, he was an indoor/outdoor kitty
and often brought us "presents" of birds (dead or alive), mice, rats,
and other small creatures. If we were lucky he would even reinact the
killing for us! Very cute! Except for when he let the live creatures
go in the house ...
Now Scoutman has settled a bit into our new house and does not venture
outside so much. He is very serious about making sure that he gets his
pouch food first thing in the morning. The rest of the day it is
crunchies. In the evening, he gets to try whatever it is we are having
for dinner, steak is his favorite! We have also discovered that Scout
enjoys eating bagels, whipped cream, ice cream, and yogurt.
Scout is the glue that holds our family together because we all love him
and can laugh at him together. I don't think our lives would be the
same without Scout. He is our sweet little man!
