George
was a stray found at the Mount Vernon estate, hence he is named
in honor of George Washington. He is a real survivor. When he was
rescued, in December of 2002, the vet estimated his age at two or three.
George only weighed four pounds - he was severely dehydrated and emaciated.
After a lot of TLC he turned into the sleek, self-confident cat you see
in the photo. He now weighs eleven pounds.
George is an attention hound and total clown - he will do anything for
food (including walk on his hind legs). He is very observant, and
learns by watching his humans. He knows how to open the cabinets the
kitchen and turn doorknobs to open closed doors. I think he is working
on learning how to operate the faucets, so he can give himself a nice
fresh drink of water any time he chooses. He is an entertaining cat to
live with, but also can be a snuggle bug, when he is ready to curl up
and relax.
