This
is Millie Maude. She is an all-American domestic shorthair cat.
She is considered a "brown patched tabby," or torbie, because amid her
standard tabby markings are patches of orange. Guess her genes couldn't
decide which way to go! I rescued Millie from a barn when she was five
weeks old. Her mother had disappeared and no one knew what happened to
the other kittens, and I was not about to leave her to meet that same
mysterious fate!
It would be impossible to list all the things that make her special, but
a few are that she is the squishiest kitty ever and it makes her a joy
to hug. And by squishy I don't necessarily mean fat (although she is a
bit chunky), she's just plain squishy! Hard to explain I guess. She
also loves to lay in the sink and drink out of the faucet. She couldn't
care less if you turned it on full blast and it was drenching her. She'd
lick the puddles off her round belly.
When she was a kitten, Millie used to get in the shower with me. It was
a stand-up shower and there was nowhere to be in it and not be getting
wet, but she would come in nonetheless. She was also quite the a
mischievous athlete in her adolescence, and was known to break into
cabinets above the fridge (where I put her toys at bedtime, so I didn't
have to listen to the jingles and jangles all night!), retrieve one, and
jump down with it in her mouth, like a dog.
Millie Maude also adopted my baby blanket as her own. She is cuddly
anyway, but if that blanket is around, she'll spend hours kneading it
and purring. Sometimes when she jumps up into bed at night, I get it
out especially for her, because it makes her so happy. Anyway, Millie is
just an awesome kitty, and every day with her is a joy. I am so lucky!
