This
is Dex. We got him after our toy poodle of fourteen years passed away. I
decided to get a cat because I was too sad about my dog to replace him
right away, but I badly wanted an animal in the house. I honestly didn't
expect to become very attached to a cat. I was wrong. He was a very
energetic kitten, in fact he would run so fast that he'd go head first
into the patio doors because he couldn't stop in time. He was very funny
to watch, and we were enjoying him in no time. The one thing that has
got me very attached to him lately is that he comes in to bed with us
and climbs right up at my face and puts his paws around my neck like
he's actually hugging me; then he tucks his head under my chin and purrs
really loudly. I can't sleep a wink, but it feels nice. He knows what
time everyone in the family is expected home, and most days is looking
out the window waiting for us. When we drive in we can see his mouth
open as he meows to us; obviously in recognition that it's us and we're
home. To make a long story short, much to our surprise we really love
this cat. We are getting Dex a baby dog brother in two weeks, so I hope
he likes him - he'll be the big brother and the boss and he deserves
to be honored!
