This
picture of Digby was taken during a Christmas 2004 visit to my
Mother's - at two months old we were afraid that he would try to climb
the tree, but instead, he made himself at home in her magazine basket
and was a good houseguest. It took many months after I had to have my
seventeen-year-old cat T.C. put to sleep last year before I could think of
welcoming a new addition into my home and life. And I also wasn't sure
how Toast, who is now almost fourteen, would adjust. But when I saw Digby I
knew he was just perfect - and he has turned out to be a wonderful
companion, and a constant source of joy and laughter. My little
man's blue eyes make him a real charmer, and he loves to snuggle when
he's not perched in our apartment window watching the neighborhood
pigeons. He's quite fond of riding around on my shoulders, and is
fascinated by the printer for my computer -- to the point that he'll
come running from another room and jump up to sit beside it when it
starts working. He also loves to play with his collection of furry mice
and torment Toast, who still wants nothing to do with him. Of course,
his play "attacks" and habit of leaping on her after making a mad dash
across the room do nothing to convince her that he is buddy material! I
think his bursts of kitten energy are a little overwhelming for her.
Hopefully someday, when he's mellowed a bit, she'll be as charmed by him
as I am and we'll have domestic feline bliss!
