We
found Little One at the Edmonton SPCA. I was walking along the
corridor filled with several rows of cages of needful cats and kittens
when something grabbed my pant leg. I crouched down to the bottom level
and looked inside and there was a tiny face that promptly yelled into
mine. After disengaging my pant leg from his claws I knew he had chosen
us, and promptly adopted him along with his non-related brother in
another cage that day. Despite Little One having lost his right hip to
surgery after a very high fall less than eight months later when he was ten
months old, he still runs, jumps and tussles with his adopted brother as
well as any other cat with two good hips. The apartment would not be a
home without Little One and his brother, Yangy!
Little One says the word "no". He plays a game with my patience every
so often when he wants to our into our apartment hallway to "visit" with
the other cat on our floor (under the neighbors door, of course!) I keep
saying "No!" softly at first and then louder and louder until I (after
about twenty minutes of repeating every minute after every one of his Meows
demanding to go out when he is not allowed at that time) and finally I
lose my patience and say very loudly "no Little One!" He then Meows
the word (in a questioning way) "No?" absolutely perfectly like a human
spoke it. Then he knows I will not give in to him and stops asking to
go out at that time. Friends have witnessed this, as well, so I swear
it is true! He's a special cat!
